Scuba Familiarization.

Optional SCUBA Familiarization

The Oakville Branch of the Navy League is happy to be able to sponsor two days of SCUBA familiarization in conjunction with Dean McConnachie of The Dive Academy ( in Oakville, a Dive Instructor with Scuba Schools International certification. Eligible cadets would be able to attend one of the two training days.
Cost per cadet is $25 plus tax. As this is a special event with limited available attendance and physical considerations, the Navy League is asking for each interested Cadet to make a $10 deposit upon submission of required pre-clearance forms on March 20th, 2018 which will be returned to them in the following situations:
1. if the candidate is rejected due to ineligibility; or
2. upon attending the event.
Two dates have been secured, with maximal attendance of 8 Cadets on each day:
Saturday, April 7
SaturdayApril 14
Timings would be from 11:30 am until 3:30 pm and would include Dive Academy refresher and equipment fitting on Speer's Road location (1380 Speers Road, Unit 10), followed by in-water training at Appleby College pool beginning at 1:15 pm with equipment and procedure review going in pool at 1:30 - 3:30 pm.  Transit between the two locations would need to be provided by cadet/ parents.
There is a requirement of creating a profile with health screening questionnaire and waiver from the Dive Academy in advance, as well as online completion of an e-learning module which is approximately 1 hour in length.
The online access would be granted after a determination by the corps that the cadet meets eligibility criteria. Prior to gaining access to the training, there are several considerations made under CATO 14-10  attached to this email.
Any questions about this activity should be directed through your chain of command.
